The ultimate in kit bashes. ME!

It was interesting to see this Dragon figure come out. Dave appeared not to long after I displayed photos of myself on several websites dedicated to the US soldier in WW2. I was wearing the uniform above. I also had a 5 cell Thompson mag pouch on not a bag.

I have been told by more than just a couple of people that the resemblance is uncanny. And the uniform is spot on. Normally with this uniform I would be wearing my assault vest but it is on loan to the local military musuem. The uniform Dave is wearing was a uniform I wore the year before he came out in a photo shoot. Now, I'm not saying that Dave is actually me what I'm saying is that we look alike considering Dave also has a full face which would have been hard to find in Europe during the war years when the average US soldier weighed a mere 130lbs.

Alamo Scout

During WW2 the Alamo Scouts were America's 1st Special Forces team that conducted OPEN operations against the enemy. They were responsible for theall of the intell leading up to the raid on Cubanatuan Prison Camp. The Great Raid did them no justice considering that for 15 weeks Alamo Scouts lived on their bellies in the grass and woodlands around the camp.

The Alamo Scout I did for the Real American Hero site was something that never was. Not long after mine was done Gearbox released images of their new action figures. One was an Scout that looked amazingly like mine. I had done some research after I released my photo to RAH and found out that the Alamo Scouts wore the uniform once. A friend of mine who runs the Alamo Scout website was having lunch with Col. Sumner who stated that the scouts used it on one mission then decide that it was to hot, bulky, and to visible in the bright green jungle. It was dumped. There are no pictures of them wearing it. I have looked and found nothing. I was going based on what I was told by the Colonel.

The Unknown Soldier

I had seen the unknown soldier in many situations since he came out but I had not seen him in any official WWII combat uniform. I'm sure plenty have done it but I decided to show him off with my comics.

He is wearing the typical WWII garb which includes; M1941 Cold weather jacket, M1943 HBTs, Russett leather combat shoes with leggings, M1936 pistol belt with M1916 M1911A1 holster, .45, magazine pouch, M1 steel helmet, M1A1 Thompson and a 5 cell magazine pouch.

This close-up came out pretty good and showed the detail of the bandages, helmet, and his eyes. The issue in the background is Issue No. 151 July of Star Spangled WarStories Introducing the Unknown Soldier. I sent this picture to a friend of mine so he could see how I collect pretty much everything...He offered me 70$ for the issue. I sold it.
Here are the only 2 Unknown Soldier comics I had. Both were worth about 75$ total with issue 151 being worth about 70$. This is probably the best way to present him. In uniform fighting NAZIs!
There are days when things can and will go wrong. I went to download my camera of the original images from this shoot and when I came back the box was on the floor. I had no clue as to what happened. So I picked it up and shot the pictures again. I went to download them and this time when I came back this is what I was confronted with.
